A Budding Friendship
Itch LOVES to go for walks and dances when he sees the leash come out. He will be an excellent walking or jogging companion. To start, he needs to work on better leash manners. But he’s getting it! While pausing to check out the sights, Itch will lean against you to stay in touch. So endearing.
On a side note, he appears to be fully housebroken. (Yay!)
Itch has been terrific with our 5.5 year old daughter. She thinks he is pretty swell too. Not a single grumble from him as she wheeled babydoll strollers past his dog bed. He gently took bones from her hand. And Itch managed multiple showings of Curious George! However, he is convinced there is a live animal behind the TV set and stands waiting for it to appear. Funny!
Our week of dog sitting has ended, and we are so sorry to see Itch go. He’s friendly, curious, and kind of a goofball. Go meet Itch and see if he is your hound!
The Perfect House Guest
We have been delighted to dog-sit for Life’s an Itch while his foster family went on vacation this month. He settled in very nicely and has been the perfect house guest! I am truly surprised that this hound is still waiting for a forever home. He’s a great dog! Itch is friendly, curious, and he REALLY loves this honking pig! Hard to snap a photo for all of the squeezing and tossing about.
Itch has the softest coat of most any greyhound I’ve seen! Like velvet. Our previous greyhound was named Miss Softest Coat at SEGA’s annual Greyfest contest. But, I believe he has her beat. We’re still working on brushing out his old kennel coat. He is looking sleek and shiny underneath the fuzz.
This is one of those famed hounds called a ‘collector’. Itch gathers items of interest from around the house and stashes them on his bed. Funny pup. He has collected flip-flops, sneakers, a bag of ponytail holders, and my stereo headphones. No chewing, thankfully! And he readily lets me take things back.
We’ve also been pleased with how well Itch has interacted with our 5.5 year old daughter. She thinks he’s pretty swell too. More about his excellent tolerance of babydoll strollers and Curious George in my next post. Stay tuned!

Still Waiting!
Itch, or Ilitch, continues to be a wonderful pup! He really enjoys running around the yard, either racing, throwing a toy about or protecting the yard from any intruders! He is kind of a watchdog greyhound....who would have thought?! He has also been very tolerant of the new deck being built and has learned to use a ramp to get in and out of the house.....more pics to follow soon!

Ilitch has been with us for just about 2 weeks now....he continues to show us that he is a very good boy!! We also discovered that he barks but only when appropriate, like when someone, human or animal, comes near the yard. We have not worked very much on leash training but hope to get to that soon...

Itch, or Ilitch as we are calling him for now, has been the perfect pup since coming to our home last Saturday! He is potty trained and goes easily into his crate at night for sleeping and is quiet all night! He is a great eater and also enjoys milk bones. He loves to play with his toys in the yard and often runs in the yard like he is at the track! Ilitch is all around a great pup!
